Some forty (40) workers employed with Soufriere Hot Wire Rides Limited will now receive trade union representation.

About two weeks ago the tourism workers employed with Soufriere Hot Wire Rides Ltd. participated in a secret ballot poll. The majority of the workers voted in favour of having their interest protected and enhanced by the National Workers Union (NWU).

Labour Commissioner Mr. Ray Narcisse has since sent a Recognition Certificate to the National Workers Union. The document conveys that the NWU now has the authority to represent the said workers in all matters dealing with their conditions of employment.

The NWU expects to meet company officials shortly after which a Memorandum of Proposals on behalf of the workers will be prepared and sent for consideration.
