NWU TO MEET MANAGEMENT OF SLASPA AT DEPARTMENT OF LABOUR TODAY
The National Workers Union (NWU) will meet with the Management of the Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) at the Department of Labour today April 19, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
The NWU will use this conciliatory process as a final attempt to have the company present a formal status report on all it has done up to today in dealing with the many outstanding operational matters of an industrial nature brought to its attention by the union.
During the last two weeks the rodent population has grown at both Hewanorra and George F.L. Charles Airports to the disgust of persons using both of these airports. The Castries Port has an unmanageable pile up of forty foot containers which are creating tight operational problems, leaving equipment with very little space to manouvre. It is just a matter of time for an accident to occur.
The Port cannot continue to run and be saddled with poor management and individuals who are placed in positions that they are not equipped to perform.
The NWU is extremely concerned and will hold Management responsible.
