NWU SHOP STEWARDS PROVIDE MANDATE FOR ACTION
Shop Stewards employed with Water and Sewerage Authority Incorporated (WASCO) met on Monday September 23, 2019 at the Headquarters of the National Workers Union at Unity House, Maurice Mason Avenue, Sans Souci.
The Leadership of the Union gave a detailed summation of outstanding industrial issues still unresolved. The WASCO Stewards were incensed at having been informed that some crucial industrial relations matters between the union and the company were still outstanding.
A mandate was given to the union to set up a framework that both sides could embark upon immediately to bring closure on the said and to vigorously pursue it.
The meeting also discussed the SLASPA/NWU situation. The Shop Stewards conveyed WASCO employees’ solidarity and further pointed out that there is no room for cooperation with any company that fails to operate under the Labour Act.
The gathering made it abundantly clear that should SLASPA fail to comply by setting up a disciplinary hearing in keeping with the principles of natural justice, whatever action that SLASPA employees decide on will be supported fully by WASCO employees
