NWU REFERS SJC NEGOTIATING DISPUTE TO LABOUR COMMISSIONER
The Management of St. James’s Club Morgan Bay and the National Workers Union (NWU) have agreed to refer their negotiating dispute to the Labour Commissioner.
The NWU has requested a three dollar ($3.00) per hour increase in Years One, Two and Three while the Company has counter-offered one dollar ($1.00) per hour to cover the three year duration.
The NWU is of the firm opinion that its aim is to standardize fringe benefits in the unionized hotel plants and establish a wage structure that would mirror the contribution that hotel workers are making towards the overall development of the Tourism Sector.
It is expected that a meeting at conciliatory level will be scheduled soon as both parties are eager to resolve this matter.
