NWU NEGOTIATES INDUSTRIAL PACKAGE FOR TOLYN WORKERS
Nineteen percent (19%) general wage increase as part of the industrial package agreed between the Management of Tolyn Manufacturers Limited and the National Workers Union (NWU) will now be implemented in full.
This is as a result of a conciliatory meeting held between the company and the National Workers Union (NWU) which was chaired by Senior Labour Officer Mr. Joseph Joseph. The meeting was held at the Department of Labour’s Southern Office.
The company agreed to the full implementation but would like the assistance of the union to reverse a high level of lateness among workers.
It was agreed that a general meeting will be held with employees with the objective of pointing out to workers the negative impact on productivity which the company can no longer carry. The NWU is also prepared to include productivity as part of the criteria for receiving Year End Bonus which is solely paid out at the discretion of the company.
