
MEETING TO BE HELD ON SOURFRIERE HOT WIRE RIDE
Mr. Joseph Joseph, a Senior Labour Official in the Department of Labour has summoned the Management of Soufriere Hot Wire Ride Ltd. and the National Workers Union (NWU) to an urgent meeting to be held at the Department’s Vieux Fort Office on Wednesday March 7, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the company’s decision to make six (6) workers redundant, having received a recognition claim by the National Workers Union on behalf of workers employed with Soufriere Hot Wire Ride Ltd.
Senior Labour Official, Mr. Joseph Joseph has made it abundantly clear that both union and company must adhere to provisions within the labour legislation of the country.
The NWU will be demanding that the company reverses its decision, that dates for a Pre Poll Meeting be agreed upon and that a Secret Ballot Poll be held to determine one way or another the NWU’s recognition claim.
Meanwhile the National Workers Union has planned a general meeting for the workers on that Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at the Wispers Restaurant in Soufriere.
