NWU SHOP STEWARDS IN THE SOUTH TAKE POSITION ON ST. JUDE HOSPITAL IMPASSSE

Twelve (12) southern branches of the National Workers Union (NWU) have taken a collective decision to convey their full solidarity with the employees of St. Jude Hospital.

The twelve Shop Stewards from WASCO South, CARIMAN, WINERA, CDSL, SLASPA, 1st National Bank, Republic Bank, Bank of Saint Lucia, St. Jude Hospital, Caribbean Grains, Saint Lu Metals, Tolyn Manufacturers and SMJ Beverages met at the NWU Office on Friday May 22, 2020.

In addressing the Shop Stewards, NWU Mobilization Officer in the South Leonards Prescott read the Petition. A brief historical perspective at the Hospital was tabled along with a request calling for the Management of the St. Jude Hospital to remove Mr. Andrew Piltie who is at the centre of the industrial upheaval at the hospital.

The Shop Stewards decision will be conveyed to the Minister for Health and Wellness, Senator the Hon. Mary Isaac, Management of St. Jude, the Leadership of the NWU, Minister of Labour Hon. Stephenson King and the Management of all the Southern Branches.
